Hi Everyone,

Judging from the comments and the people I've spoken to personally; it is good to know that I am not the crazy one.

However, the craziness continues. This morning I received a phone call from their lawyer, informing me that if I did not remove the contents of their email from my blog, they would sue me for libel. I am not a lawyer nor do I pretend to be one, so clearly I am not aware of all the things that can be considered as libel. I asked that a letter be sent to me so that I would be better able to consider my options. If my post was indeed libelous then of course I will remove the email content, immediately.

It was never my intent to create any conflict (as I've told the owners of this store, several times). I think they have one of the best stocked yarn stores in the area so there is no reason for people to stop shopping there; and I respect their right to run their store as they see fit. They are free to set the terms for working with them, but I am also free to accept or reject those terms. They seem to be unable to accept that I rejected their terms.

Anyway, I will wait for the letter to decide if the email content will stay or be removed. Either way, I will not talk about this stuff anymore. I didn't created my blog for this. Plus, I really do have a lot of other stuff to to talk about.

No surprise at all.
Is it libel if you're directly quoting them? Libel is when you invent falsehoods to make someone look bad. They do that all on their own.

Excuse me. They wrote the email, so how can it be libel? Are they libelling themselves or what?

Um, I'm with fleegle...How is it libel when they are the ones who wrote it? Doesn't make sense at all...

They are total whack jobs! Especially that "Wooly Mammoth" guy with the missing tusk! Does he ever shut up?!? The last time I went there she had a chicken wing stuck to her face and she didn't even realize it! Just kidding!

But seriously, they are really gross and you are much better off not associating with them. What they don't realize was that you were bringing a little needed class to their store.

holy crap!! for starter's I'd say these LYS owners have opened themselves for a libel suit by *you*. They sound like lunatics. For middlesies, I'd say if they were serious about suing you, a lawyer would write you a letter, sent certified mail, not make a phone call. (do you actually *know* this person is a lawyer?) Lastly, truth is the best defense against libel! These people just did themselves in.
I hope they go away soon!

I had heard your story through the grapevine and didn't realise that I knew "you". LOL Wow, sweetie, you know, with all the stuff I have heard about that store (from MULTIPLE sources) since I took up the yarn obsession, am have to say the weirness does not surprise me. yet i am disappointed at their behaviours because they only serve to hurt themselves with their poisonous behaviours regardinmg their competition and anyone who does not kiss their asses.
I had a loverly time last night hanging with you at knit night. its so wondeerful to get to know such an accomplished artist!!
PS: LOVE LOVE LOVE your NS tartan... bravo!

While I sympathize with your troubles with the shop owners I tend to very old school about airing "dirty linen". Communications between two parties are private, even if most people in this electronic age don't seem to think so. I think it is rather unprofessional to post their e-mail on your blog.

Hello Collette,
I'm shocked and extremely disappointed in what I see here.
I shop at their store and love every thing about the experience. They have worked hard to bring us the best and nicest yarns. They are nothing but helpful and receiving each and every time I see them with clients.
You used to be a big part of that positive and smiling experience. What has happened to you?
I can't imagine you allowing such disrespectful comments here to stain your blog and overshadow all of your hard work. Your talent and your character is much beyond this sort of behavior.
I missed their e-mail to you but it was just that, "to you" not for this forum.
I don't know why you turned on them but I am now more than ashamed to have revered you as a leading talent in this field.
I hope you move ahead to find peace and resolution and I wish you a life beyond the sort of people who have the inner capacity to make such comments about others.
